Bond Pearce – Growth Plans Continue with Four New Partners for Aberdeen Office

We have recruited four highly experienced partners to our Aberdeen office, significantly enhancing our capability in Europe’s oil capital and our national energy sector team.

The move strengthens our Oil & Gas and Real Estate departments in Aberdeen, enhances the depth of our experience in Power and Renewables and adds corporate and banking expertise to our Scottish office.

Four new partners are joining Bond Pearce from Maclay Murray & Spens in Aberdeen.

Uisdean Vass established and led Maclay’s oil and gas team. He has a wealth of international experience and as well as working with the oil and gas team in Aberdeen he will be liaising closely with the firm’s London based oil and gas partners to pursue international opportunities.

We are already the UK’s pre-eminent legal firm in relation to renewables and Richard Cockburn will add to that capability as a specialist in offshore wind as well as oil and gas. Richard is dual qualified.

Gordon Hobkirk will bring corporate expertise to the Aberdeen office. His clients have traditionally been SMEs and entrepreneurs in the oil service sector. His expertise centres on mergers, acquisitions, disposals, corporate finance, restructurings, shareholders agreements, joint ventures, commercial contracts and corporate recovery and insolvency.

Gordon shares a number of clients with new Real Estate Partner Fraser Leslie. Fraser has worked with a wide variety of national and international clients operating in a number of sectors particularly oil and gas. He has long standing experience of acting for landowning rural clients in relation to all property matters.

We have established a significant client base in Aberdeen since opening our Scottish office in the city in 2007. It remains an area of strategic importance and as a vibrant market is a key target, along with London, for expansion. The merger with Dickinson Dees, which will create Bond Dickinson, will enhance the opportunities for the firm. Read more about the merger

Luke Gabb, Head of Energy comments:

“This is a fantastic opportunity to significantly expand our oil and gas expertise with the acquisition of a superb team with an excellent track record and reputation in the market place. This provides us with an excellent platform for further growth, with many clients engaged in both renewables and oil and gas business. Expanding our office in Aberdeen makes great business sense because it is a key location for the oil and gas industry and the wider energy sector and we will continue to consider other opportunities.”

Kenny Paton, Oil & Gas Partner in Aberdeen, comments:

“To have four partners of such high calibre joining Bond Pearce adds momentum to our efforts to grow our business in one of the most vibrant economies in the UK. Aberdeen is a key market for Bond Pearce and this will enable us not only to expand our already extensive Oil & Gas practice in Aberdeen and continue to grow our Scottish client base but to provide a broad spectrum of legal advice for the firm’s existing UK clients with business interests in Scotland.

“The new members of the team also add wide global experience which is particularly important given the continuing internationalisation of the oil and gas sector.”

Our energy clients include E.ON, Endeavour Energy, BHP, Noble Energy, Total, RWE npower renewables, East Anglia Offshore Wind, Eneco, Renewable Energy Systems and Banks Renewables.
