Partner Tom Holbrook and solicitor Angela Merad have joined Kennedys, taking the headcount at the firm’s Sheffield office to 84, including 11 partners.
Tom specialises in defending personal injury claims including employers’, public and motor liability for insurers, corporates and adjusters. He handles catastrophic injury, stress, harassment and human rights matters. Tom has specific expertise in working for police authorities, retailers, food manufacturers and transport/rail operators.
In his new role, Tom will strengthen our public sector work and in particular, play a pivotal role in sharpening our focus on working with police authorities in the north of England.
Angela Merad brings both in-house and private practice experience, having spent 15 years at Sheffield City Council prior to joining Greenwoods, where she was a senior solicitor working alongside Tom Holbrook.
As one of the largest defendant liability practices in the UK, these latest appointments bring our practice to approximately 250 legal staff, including 36 partners across the UK.
Sheffield liability partner, Suzanne Liversidge says:
“Crucial to the continuing growth of our practice and meeting the diverse needs of our insurer, corporate and public sector clients is our ability to attract first-rate experienced solicitors. With Tom and Kennedys there were immediate synergies in terms of our clients and market focus. I welcome them to the team and look forward to working with them.”
Tom Holbrook comments:
“At a time of great change in the defendant insurance market, clients increasingly look for advisers who can offer both quality advice and strength in depth. Kennedys is one of the few firms that genuinely have this combination. It’s a firm with a great reputation and so represents a superb opportunity for both Angela and our clients.”
