McDermott Represents Intersnack in its Acquisition of KP Snacks

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery LLP represented the Intersnack Group in its acquisition of KP Snacks, United Biscuits’ salty snacks unit, for an undisclosed sum.

Intersnack Group, the privately-held German snack group, is one of the leading manufacturers of savoury snacks in Europe, with an annual turnover of €1,7 billion.

Owned by private equity houses Blackstone and PAI Partners, United Biscuits, KP Snack’s parent company, is one of the world’s pre-eminent branded snacks businesses.

Intersnack Group will take control of KP Snacks, the UK’s second-largest snack business with an annual turnover of £280m.

The transaction includes various iconic UK snack brands, such as McCoy’s, Hula Hoops, KP Nuts and Skips and dramatically increases Intersnack’s exposure to the UK market. Intersnack UK generates a turnover of approximately £80m.

The combination of Intersnack Group and KP Snacks brings together two companies with long-standing history and creates a strong alliance with combined net sales of more than £1.7bn (€2.1bn) and 8,000 employees.

The McDermott team that served as counsel to Intersnack Group included partners Hugh Nineham (Corporate), Mark Crofskey (Corporate), Rohan Massey (IP and commercial), James Ross (Tax) and Katie Clark (Employment).
