Mark T. Carberry Joins NGE as Litigation Partner

Mark T. Carberry, who represents financial services entities and employees in a slate of civil, regulatory and enforcement matters in actions across the country, has rejoined Neal Gerber Eisenberg as a partner in its Securities & Commodities Litigation Practice Group.

Carberry is a skilled litigator. His experience includes civil proceedings in arbitration forums and federal court, conducting internal investigations and defending regulatory and enforcement matters initiated by the SEC, CFTC, DOJ, NASD, NYSE, CME, CBOT, and other regulators, exchanges, and self-regulatory bodies.

“Mark’s addition to our practice is an excellent fit with our existing capabilities,” said Nicholas Berberian, Securities & Commodities Litigation Practice Group chairman. “His industry-rich background in the securities and commodities sector provides our financial services clients with a powerful legal resource to help them successfully navigate this complex, heavily regulated industry.”

Prior to joining the firm, Carberry spent more than a decade working at UBS, one of the world’s largest financial services firms, serving most recently as Counsel to UBS’s Private Wealth Management business group. During his tenure at the financial services giant, he gained inside-out knowledge and a clear understanding of the challenges his clients face.

In addition, Carberry also held senior legal positions with AG, Wealth Management Americas and Legal & Compliance US. In these roles, he served as a respected advisor and counsel to senior business partners, branch office management and financial advisors throughout the organization on legal, compliance, and risk management matters.

Before UBS, Carberry worked in private practice – including as a partner at Neal Gerber Eisenberg from 1990 to 2000 – during which time he focused on all aspects of federal and state corporate, securities and commodities law with a client base consisting of registered investment advisers, broker-dealers, futures commission merchants, investment companies and other national financial services entities.

“I am truly excited to be working again with such an exceptional team of lawyers,” Carberry said.“The firm has a stellar reputation for representing prominent corporate clients and individuals in high-stakes litigation and was one of the key factors in my decision to return to this dynamic group.”

Carberry received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Following law school at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso Indiana, Carberry served as a law clerk to the Hon. Luther M. Swygert, United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
