Herbert Smith Freehills Advises KKR and Allegro on Loan Portfolio Acquisition

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co L.P. and affiliates (KKR) and Allegro Funds on their joint acquisition of a portfolio of commercial loans from BOS International, a subsidiary of Lloyds International Pty Limited.

KKR and Allegro Funds have purchased the funds for an undisclosed amount in a competitive bid process following BOS International’s review of its Australian and New Zealand commercial loan portfolio.

The Herbert Smith Freehills team was led by partner John Nestel along with partner Melita Cottrell, and senior associates Mark Currell and Cameron Mitcham.

‘It is always satisfying to work with a client in developing solutions and to add real value to their successful bid, particularly amongst such an impressive field of competing bids,’ said John Nestel. ‘Our experience with purchasing and restructuring these portfolios of distressed loans is now second to none and we are proud to be working with KKR and Allegro on this new investment for them.’
