Commercial Litigator Kevin Allen Joins Eckert Seamans in Pittsburgh

The national law firm of Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC is pleased to announce that Kevin P. Allen has joined the litigation practice as a Member (partner) in the firm’s Pittsburgh office.

The former chair of Thorp Reed & Armstrong’s commercial and corporate litigation group, Allen has broad experience litigating and counseling clients through matters ranging from contractual disputes and business torts, to First Amendment and defamation cases.

In commercial cases, Allen represents clients in contractual disputes, shareholder and securities cases and matters involving alleged business torts. In defamation cases, his experience includes the defense of a senior corporate executive accused of slander as well as the prosecution of a libel case on behalf of an individual against a foreign media company and a local individual. Allen frequently appears before state and federal courts in western Pennsylvania. In addition to his bench and jury trial experience, he has argued appellate cases before the Third Circuit, the Federal Circuit, and Pennsylvania’s Supreme, Superior and Commonwealth Courts.

Allen is frequently called upon to write and speak on attorney client privilege issues and defamation matters. He is the author of The Attorney-Client Privilege and Work-Product Doctrine in Pennsylvania, Third Edition (PBI Press 2012), regularly contributes articles to The Legal Intelligencer and other Law.com publications and has spoken before groups including the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the DELVACCA Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, among others.

Allen earned his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Yale University.
