Baker & McKenzie further expands its patent litigation practice with the hire of Dr. Jochen Herr. Currently a partner at Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP in Munich, he joins Baker & McKenzie as a partner by 1 February 2013. Uniquely qualified Herr further strengthens the patent litigation team headed by Dr. Günter Pickrahn.
Dr. Herr is one of few lawyers in Germany admitted as attorney, patent attorney as well as European patent attorney. His practice is almost exclusively focused on representing clients in litigious patent cases before the infringement courts as well as before the federal, German and European patent courts. He advises and represents consumer goods, mechanical engineering, electronic and life sciences companies. By representing both infringement cases as well as nullity proceedings, he offers his clients comprehensive support in contested patent disputes. This approach enabled him to continually expand his practice in recent years.
“Jochen’s wealth of experience and exceptional knowledge makes him an ideal addition to our German and European patent litigation group. We note that many of our clients who invest in the development of new technologies also actively assert their intellectual property rights in legal proceedings. With Jochen’s hire, we strategically expand our team according to our client’s needs in order to offer highly qualified knowledge in a highly profitable market of patent litigation,” comments Dr. Michael Fammler, Head of European IP Steering Committee and Head of IP Practice in Germany. “We welcome Jochen Herr to our team and look forward to an exciting collaboration.”
“The global outlook of Baker & McKenzie’s IP practices, which counts among the world’s largest, and also its very solid anchoring in the German market for the past 50 years won me over. Baker & McKenzie provides me with an excellent platform to further develop my practice in a top international law firm with a clear focus on IP. I am pleased to be part of the successful IP team and look forward to shaping the development of Baker & McKenzie’s patent litigation practice,” says Dr. Herr.
Most recently, Baker & McKenzie successfully advised a patent dispute in the field of LED technology. This area is closely aligned with the established patent licensing practice with Dr. Constanze Ulmer-Eilfort and Dr. Andrea Schmoll.
