Simmons & Simmons Hires Dispute Resolution Partner in London

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has appointed Simon Hilditch as an Insurance Litigation partner in the London office.

Simon, who was previously a partner at Berrymans Lace Mawer, will join Simmons & Simmons on 12 November.

Simon’s practice focuses on defending UK and international claims against insurers and insureds in the financial institutions, D&O and professional liability insurance sectors. He also handles contentious and non-contentious insurance and reinsurance related issues both in the UK and overseas. He joins from Berrymans Lace Mawer, where he has worked for 22 years.

International Head of Dispute Resolution at Simmons & Simmons, Hans-Hermann Aldenhoff, said: “Simon’s appointment highlights the expansion of our leading Dispute Resolution practice. His experience in the market will further strengthen our insurance litigation capabilities.’’

In December 2011, the firm appointed partner Pollyanna Deane, who focuses on corporate transactional and regulatory advisory work in the insurance sector. Her clients include reinsurers, insurers, mutuals, intermediaries and service providers to the insurance industry.

More generally, Simmons & Simmons’ international Dispute Resolution Group has seen a period of growth and this is its fifth partner hire this year. Recently appointed Dispute Resolution partners include partner duo Ed Crosse and Tim Boyce (Bristol), Rogier Schellaars (Amsterdam) and Tom Fyfe (Hong Kong). Additionally, Jayne Bentham, Emma Kendrick-Jones and Philip Norman were internally promoted to the partnership in May 2012.
