Peter S. Hatinen has joined Faegre Baker Daniels LLP as a partner in the wealth management group. He will practice from the law firm’s Minneapolis office.
Hatinen brings more than 12 years of experience in assisting individuals, families and businesses with a variety of tax, estate planning and business matters. He advises clients on wills and trusts, tax planning, buy-sell agreements, family partnerships, business succession, charitable gift planning, asset protection, and probate and trust administration. His expertise also includes working with foundations and other nonprofit organizations on a range of issues, including choice of entity, obtaining and maintaining tax-exempt status, compliance with state and federal regulations, governance and mergers.
Before joining Faegre Baker Daniels, Hatinen was a shareholder in Fredrikson & Byron’s trusts and estates group. His legal career began with a firm in Boston, Mass., after graduating from the New York University School of Law in 2000. Hatinen graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Concordia College in 1996.
Hatinen is a frequent presenter on probate and trust law at conferences and seminars. He chaired the legislative committee of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Probate and Trust Law Section from 2009-2012 and he has served on the Section’s Governing Council since 2007.
