Field Fisher Waterhouse Boosts Competition Practice with New Partner Hire

Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP announces today the appointment of partner Philippe Ruttley to the firm’s Competition & EU Regulatory practice.  Philippe joins the firm from Clyde & Co along with Director, Solange Leandro.

Philippe specialises in EU competition law, EU litigation and EU constitutional issues.  He has particular expertise in transport, advising an international client base with a focus on the aviation and maritime sectors. His practice also covers international trade, World Trade Organisation (WTO) issues and EU external relations.

Philippe has been a partner at Clyde & Co since 2001 and has previously worked for the EU Commission Legal Service, the United Nations and the UK Treasury Solicitor’s Department.

Field Fisher Waterhouse’s Competition & EU Regulatory practice has a strong focus on advising clients in highly regulated industries on behavioural competition matters. Philippe’s appointment will bring the European team to four partners and a senior Of Counsel in London and a further seven partners across Europe.

Charles Whiddington, partner and head of Competition & EU Regulatory at Field Fisher Waterhouse said: “Philippe’s experience in EU competition matters fits in well with Field Fisher Waterhouse’s strong focus on behavioural competition work and his international client base includes a number of Japanese clients, a region where we have strong links and a successful track record.  I am pleased to welcome Philippe and Solange to our growing team.”

Philippe is the 12th lateral hire the firm has made this year and his appointment closely follows the hires of corporate partner Jonathan Brooks from Maclay Murray & Spens and Brussels regulatory partner David Haverbeke from Lydian.
