PCZL Opens a New Office in London

PCZL is pleased to announce the opening of a London office of our affiliate Pearl Cohen Zedek Latzer UK LLP.

PCZL UK LLP will represent clients in patent matters before the European Patent Office (EPO) and the United Kingdom Patent Office (UKIPO). With the launch of the London office, PCZL expands its business from the US and Israel to Europe. The firm now operates from New York and Boston in the United States; Herzliya and Haifa in Israel; and London.

Zeev Pearl, Managing Partner of the firm noted that “the London office strengthens our core competency in the patent field and serves our strategy of international growth for the benefit of our clients in many regions of the world”. “Clients expect us to excel in the handling of their inventions globally”, added Mark Cohen, Senior Partner and Chair of the Life Sciences Practice group. “We believe that our European presence will allow us to serve our clients in a more efficient, cost effective, and strategic manner for our innovation driven corporate, start up, and university clients”.

Elizabeth (Liz) Dawson will be heading up the technology and mechanical practice groups of the London office. Liz is a European Patent Attorney and a UK Patent Attorney. She has acquired expertise in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in diverse industries – electronics, telecommunications and the automotive industry to name a few. She is experienced in the conduct of oral hearings, oppositions, and computer implemented inventions at the European Patent Office. Liz also prepares patentability and freedom to operate assessments, as well as due diligence reports. Liz practice covers Fortune 500 companies as well as UK start-ups and leading universities. Liz was a partner for many years at A A Thornton & Co and more recently practiced at Ipulse.

Dr. Richard Korn will be heading up the Life Science Group. Richard is a European Patent Attorney and a UK Patent Attorney. He has acquired expertise in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for complex medical and biotechnology inventions, and has coordinated the management of large worldwide patent portfolios. He is experienced in the conduct of opposition and appeals at the European Patent Office. Richard also prepares patentability and freedom to operate assessments, and developed his practice with a particular focus on the specific needs of technology transfer departments of UK universities, research institutes and small biotechnology companies. More recently, Richard has also been advising large biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Richard received his PhD in the laboratory of Professor Peter Goodfellow FRS in the Department of Genetics at the University of Cambridge. In 2001, Richard studied for a postgraduate certificate in intellectual property law at the University of Manchester. From 2002 until 2012, Richard was a patent attorney in the life science group at Potter Clarkson LLP in the UK.
