Freshfields Advises INCJ and NIEC on Venture Investment in US Green Energy Company

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) and Nihon Inter Electronics Corporation (NIEC) in their capacity for co-leading a US$35m Series E financing for Transphorm, a California-based developer of ultra-efficient power conversion technology.

INCJ is a public-private partnership between the Japanese government and 27 major corporations that provides financial, technological and management support for next-generation businesses. NIEC is a leading Japanese manufacturer and supplier of power management semiconductors.

The Freshfields team was led by Tokyo partner Takeshi Nakao and US partner Tim Wilkins. They were supported by senior associate Nick Wall in Tokyo and associates Paul Humphreys and Richard Mabey in New York.
