John Burtis Brings 16+ Years in Intellectual Property Law to Faegre Baker Daniels

John A. Burtis, former legal counsel at Medtronic, Inc. and 3M Co., has joined Faegre Baker Daniels LLP. He will serve as special counsel with the intellectual property group from the law firm’s Minneapolis office.

Burtis brings more than 16 years of experience in IP work to Faegre Baker Daniels. His legal background includes a wide range of complex litigation, including patents, trade secrets, products liability and securities-related matters in U.S. federal and state jurisdictions, as well as numerous international venues.

Most recently, Burtis served as principal litigation counsel with Medtronic in Minneapolis, managing a portfolio of significant and complex litigation for the world’s largest medical device manufacturer. Previously, he was assistant chief IP counsel at 3M Co. and an associate with a national law firm focused primarily on intellectual property.

Burtis graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1996 after receiving his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Technology in 1993.
