Saul Ewing LLP is pleased to announce that Doreen Y. Trujillo has joined the firm as a partner in the Business and Finance, Intellectual Property and Technology, and Life Sciences practices. Trujillo, who has more than 20 years of experience as a patent attorney, will be resident in the Chesterbrook, PA office.
Trujillo focuses her practice on numerous facets of patent law, including prosecution and counseling, opinion preparation, licensing, due diligence and litigation. She has prosecuted patent applications in the United States and abroad and handled patent interferences, reissues, and ex parte reexaminations. Trujillo also has experience briefing and arguing ex parte appeals before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences of the United States Patent & Trademark Office and briefing and arguing appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Trujillo practices largely in the life sciences and biotechnology arenas, where she has significant legal and practical experience. Prior to attending law school, Trujillo worked as a research assistant at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, focusing on tissue cultures, including the production of hybrid cell lines, animal testing and the development of immunoassays.

Spranger, vice chair of the Business and Finance and co-chair of the Life Sciences practice. “Her business and transactional background will benefit our clients, especially those in the biotechnology fields. She brings a tremendous amount of practical experience that creates an immediate value-add.”
Trujillo said, “Saul Ewing has well-established practices in intellectual property and technology that will serve the needs of my current clients. I was also drawn to the firm’s robust Business and Finance Practice, which is particularly strong in the life sciences. I expect it to both help expand my practice and the variety of legal services I can provide my clients.”
Trujillo received her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. She also holds a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in biology and chemistry from Juniata College.
