Van Oot Joins Jackson Lewis in Portsmouth

Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Martha (“Marty”) Van Oot has joined the firm’s Portsmouth office as Partner. Ms. Van Oot brings to Jackson Lewis over 30 years of experience as a trial attorney, with a particular emphasis on complex commercial and employment litigation.

Ms. Van Oot comes to Jackson Lewis from New Hampshire law firm Orr and Reno, where she held the position of shareholder since 2001. She has extensive trial experience in both state and federal courts, representing clients in complex commercial litigation, legal and other professional malpractice defense, and employment matters. A frequently-retained private mediator, Ms. Van Oot is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the New Hampshire Supreme Court’s Board of Bar Examiners. In addition, she serves on the Board of Directors of Granite United Way. Ms. Van Oot has been Rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell from 1998 to the present and listed in Chambers USA since 2003.

Ms. Van Oot is currently admitted to practice in the state and federal district courts for New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.

She graduated from Middlebury College magna cum laude in 1975 with a B.A. in English Literature and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Ms. Van Oot earned her J.D. in 1978 from the Northeastern University School of Law.
