An accomplished lawyer with a background in construction law has joined Fulbright’s litigation practice.
Joseph Colagiovanni has joined Fulbright from SNR Denton, where he chaired the firm’s construction practice group. With domestic and international experience, Colagiovanni will work in Fulbright’s St. Louis and Dubai offices and he anticipates spending the bulk of time on international matters.
“Joe is highly regarded for his work in construction law, on both the advisory and disputes side of such matters,” said Steven B. Pfeiffer, the Chair of Fulbright’s Executive Committee. “His extensive international background across a broad domestic and international footprint will be of great value to the firm and our clients. It will dovetail well with our existing Middle East practice where he will be most active.”
Colagiovanni’s practice is a fully-integrated transactional, counseling and litigation practice that centers on construction, architectural, engineering and development law, including related finance. He has been involved in major construction projects, including utility and infrastructure systems, bridges and roadways, water treatment and distribution facilities, environmental management and cleanup, large-scale commercial and residential complexes, automobile assembly plants, industrial and manufacturing facilities, hospitals, sports arenas and convention centers, hotel and resort developments, power plants, renovation and rehabilitation of historic structures, research facilities, casinos, museums and entertainment complexes.
“I am happy to be joining Fulbright with its global reach,” Colagiovanni said. “I am rejoining some of my former colleagues with whom I have worked previously on Middle Eastern and other non-U.S. matters and I look forward to re-engaging with them.”
Colagiovanni has extensive experience in connection with privatization and public-private partnerships both in the United States and abroad. Outside the U.S., he has been involved in projects located in China, Taiwan, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Australia, Japan, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and the United Arab Emirates.
Prior to entering private practice, Colagiovanni was Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri. He received his J.D. from Boston University and his A.B. from Brown University.
“Joe’s experience with construction disputes will greatly benefit the litigation department and its clients,” said Otway Denny, chair of Fulbright’s litigation practice.
Colagiovanni is admitted to practice law in the state of Missouri and before the U.S. District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Missouri, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
