Dechert LLP announced today that Archil Giorgadze has joined the firm’s Corporate & Securities practice as a national partner in its Tbilisi office. Prior to joining Dechert, Giorgadze was CEO and performed the duties of senior counsel at JSC Nenskra, a subsidiary of the State-owned JSC Partnership Fund established to build and develop a hydropower plant project in Georgia. Prior to this, he held several positions within the Ministry of Justice of Georgia. Giorgadze has particular expertise in advising energy sector clients on project financing, M&A and regulatory matters.
“Since opening our office in Tbilisi, we have been determined to continue expanding our practice in Georgia, a growing and increasingly important emerging market, especially in the energy, project finance and inward investment sectors where Archil has special know-how,” said Louise Roman Bernstein, managing partner of the Tbilisi office. “We are pleased to welcome Archil to our team and are certain that he will provide invaluable support for our clients in Georgia.”
Giorgadze added “I am excited to be joining Dechert’s highly-regarded corporate practice and to be able to help build the firm’s growing Georgian practice. Dechert is one of only two international law firms operating in Georgia, and I hope to help establish the firm as the natural first choice for international businesses and investors entering the country.”
Giorgadze is a graduate of Tbilisi State University’s Department of International Law and International Relations. He has also obtained LL.M. degrees from the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, and from Harvard Law School in the United States.
Giorgadze is an adjunct professor of law, and the academic director of the National Center for Commercial Law at Tbilisi Free University.
In addition to his native Georgian, Giorgadze is fluent in Russian and English and proficient in German.
