International law firm McDermott Will & Emery today announced that Scott M. Susko has joined the Firm as a partner in its State & Local Tax (SALT) Practice Group, based in Boston. Mr. Susko, who advises client on SALT controversies throughout the country, will provide the Firm with added depth in the Boston legal market.
Mr. Susko, who joins from another AmLaw 100 law firm, frequently takes an active role in assisting clients through changes in their business that can impact their state and local tax posture, such as entry into new geographic or product markets, merger & acquisition activity or state legislative developments. He has particular experience in multistate tax planning as well as assessing state and local tax risks for financial statement purposes. In addition to his state and local tax practice, Mr. Susko works with clients to identify, negotiate, and secure economic development incentives for businesses that plan on adding jobs and/or capital investment.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Susko worked for a number of the nation’s top accounting firms. He received his J.D. from the Albany Law School of Union University, and his LL.M. in taxation from Boston University School of Law.
