McDermott Adds to Growing Energy Advisory Practice

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery today announced that Alex Choinski has joined the Firm as a partner in its Energy Advisory Practice Group. He is based in the Washington, D.C. office.

Mr. Choinski, who was previously with another AmLaw 100 law firm, represents both borrowers and lenders in the financing of complex infrastructure projects and asset acquisitions in the electric power, oil and gas, renewable energy, transportation and telecommunication sectors both domestically and internationally. He has extensive experience in the structuring and documentation of secured and unsecured loan facilities, project related debt issuances and credit support with commercial and investment banks, multilateral and export credit agencies as well as government lending programs involved in these sectors. His experience also includes negotiating complex project development arrangements, including engineering, procurement and construction contracts, for projects in these sectors.

A native Spanish speaker of Argentine ancestry, Mr. Choinski has extensive experience conducting transactional negotiations and developing legal documentation throughout Latin America, including two landmark transactions in the region that both received “Deal of the Year” recognition by Project Finance magazine.

Prior to his legal career, Mr. Choinski served as a political and public policy professional for almost ten years, with experience encompassing government service and government relations for national trade and nonprofit groups. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, and B.S., magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University.
