International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised BNP Paribas, HSBC and Raiffeisen Bank International AG in relation to the issue by the Republic of Bulgaria of Euro 950 million 4.25% Notes due 2017.

The issue sees a return by the Republic to the Eurobond market for the first time in over 10 years.

The Freshfields team advising on the deal was led by partner Duncan Kellaway and included senior associate Nick Hayday and associate Lucy Harford.

Commenting on the transaction, Freshfields debt capital markets partner Duncan Kellaway said ‘We were very pleased to work with the Republic and the underwriters on this important transaction. This transaction is part of a growing number of sovereign bonds we have advised on, further demonstrating the strength of our DCM practice.’
