Davis Polk Advises Valeo on Its Negotiations with U-Shin

Davis Polk is advising Valeo in connection with its negotiations with U-Shin Ltd. to sell its access mechanisms business.

Valeo is one of the world’s top automotive suppliers. With €620 million in sales, 4,500 employees and operating in 12 industrial sites, Valeo’s access mechanisms business comprises products such as locksets, steering column locks, handles and latches. Japanese manufacturer U-Shin is one of Asia’s largest producers of automotive access mechanisms.

Through the acquisition of Valeo’s access mechanisms business, U-Shin would become a global market leader with a leading presence in Asia, Europe and South America. The proposed divestment is aligned with Valeo’s strategy of focusing on solutions to reduce CO2 emissions and stepping up its development in Asia and emerging markets.

The project is being submitted to employee representatives for consultation and is subject to approval by the competition authorities.

The Davis Polk corporate team includes partner Christophe Perchet and associates Juliette Loget and Jean-Baptiste Molmy. All members of the Davis Polk team are based in the Paris office.
