Frost Brown Todd announced today that John R. McCall, former executive vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer of LG&E and KU Energy, LLC is re-joining the firm’s litigation department as a member of the firm in early July 2012.

Crockett III, chairman of Frost Brown Todd, “The energy sector represents an enormous segment of our local and national economy, and John’s unique experience with LG&E will be tremendously valuable to our firm, as we continue to grow our energy business.” McCall also will be serving as a Neutral Arbitrator and Mediator.
McCall joined LG&E in 1994 as general counsel and executive vice president, where he managed the following departments: legal, human resources, environmental affairs, communications, state regulation and rates, corporate responsibility and community affairs, compliance and ethics, external affairs and federal regulation and policy.
Prior to LG&E, McCall practiced at Brown, Todd & Heyburn (now, Frost Brown Todd) where he was chairman of the litigation department and a member of the firm’s management oversight committee. Specializing in complex litigation and energy law, he was involved in a number of high-impact legal disputes that received national attention. In 1988, McCall was lead counsel for one of the largest individual jury verdicts ever in Kentucky.
McCall has a bachelor’s degree and a Juris Doctor degree from Vanderbilt University. He has also completed the Senior Executive Harvard Business School Program, and has participated in courses on Ethical Issues, Arbitration and Mediation, General Counsel Roundtable, US/German Cultural Awareness, Corporate Financial Management — University of Chicago Business School and Council of Chief Legal Officers.
His professional/trade memberships include American Bar Association, American Bar Foundation, American Society of Corporate Secretaries, The Conference Board, Federal Energy Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, Kentucky Defense Counsel, The General Counsel Roundtable, The Law Club (Past President), Louisville Bar Association, and The Managing Counsel Group.
McCall is a member of Citizens for Better Judges (past Chairman) and served on the Louisville Forum’s Advisory Council and the Boards of the Housing Partnership, and Louisville Collegiate School. McCall also is a member of the Kentucky Judicial Nominating Commission for the 30th Circuit and has served on the U.S. District Court Nominating Commission for Magistrates. He currently serves as Chair of the Hosparus Board of Directors, and member of the University of Louisville Board of Overseers, and as Board member of the Cardiovascular Innovations Institute and Chair of its Development Committee. He is Past Board Chairman and Chairman of various committees for Metro United Way. He is a former member of the Board of Family and Children’s Place and is currently chairing its Comprehensive Campaign. He is also serving on the Steering Committee of the University of Louisville’s Charting the Course campaign. He previously has served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention and as a founding director of the Baptist Cooperative Missions Program, Inc.
