Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Bertrand Dussert and Judith Beckhard-Cardoso as partners in its growing Paris office. Tax lawyer Dussert arrives at K&L Gates from tax boutique firm Cabinet Dussert Selarl, having also previously served as a partner at both Norton Rose LLP and the French tax firm CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre. Beckhard-Cardoso joins K&L Gates’ labor and employment practice from Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, where she led the employment practice, and previously worked at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP.
Dussert advises financial institutions and funds, international corporations, and individuals on a variety of French and international tax-related matters, including those involving domestic and cross-border asset financings and securitizations, capital investment ventures, and the establishment of tax-efficient structures in conjunction with mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, acquisition financings, and leveraged buyouts. He also assists on ruling requests before French tax authorities on mergers, demergers, restructurings, transfers, and tax leases.
“I am delighted to be joining K&L Gates during this particularly exciting time of growth for the Paris office,” said Dussert. “Having been attracted to K&L Gates by the strength of its corporate and transactional practices worldwide, I look forward to helping to enhance the firm’s profile in the French market.”
With a focus on labor law and labor relations, Beckhard-Cardoso represents domestic and international clients in the chemical, technology, pharmaceutical, aeronautics, equipment, and metallurgical sectors on matters involving employee benefits and executive compensation, labor law proceedings, employee data protection and privacy rights, and internal investigations. She also counsels companies in reorganizations, collective bargaining agreements, and employee transfers during corporate mergers and acquisitions.
“It is particularly exciting to be joining such a fast-growing firm at a time when the employment law market in France is changing and becoming more complex,” said Beckhard-Cardoso. “K&L Gates’ employment practice, with additional support from the firm’s highly regarded corporate and litigation teams, will enable me to provide a more full-service and cross-border approach to my clients in their employment and labor law matters.”
Martin Lane, K&L Gates’ Managing Partner Europe, stated: “We are delighted that the growth of the Paris office is continuing with the addition of two new partners in these important areas. Both Bertrand and Judith will further enhance the capabilities of our Paris office.”
