Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC announced today the addition of shareholders Stanley J. Milavec, Jr., co-founder of a Philadelphia-based boutique law firm, and John Washlick, former co-chair of the Health Law Practice Group of Cozen O’Connor, to its Health Care Section in Philadelphia. Washlick joined the firm on June 18, and Milavec will join the firm on July 2.
Joseph Dougherty, co-managing shareholder of Buchanan’s Philadelphia office, said, “Stan and John have tremendous reputations as health care lawyers, and will add significant value for our large base of clients in the health care industry. We are very excited to have Stan and John join us in Philadelphia.”
Buchanan’s Health Care Section was ranked #1 in Pennsylvania by Best Lawyers in America in its most recent report. The firm’s Health Care Section consists of more than 30 attorneys and professionals who provide the full spectrum of legal counsel, including transactional, regulatory, labor and employment, FDA, taxation, securities, litigation and corporate governance. The firm represents a variety of businesses in the health sector, from private hospitals to integrated global health enterprises and from research organizations to assisted-living facilities.
“Buchanan’s outstanding reputation and full range of services to clients in the health care industry is what attracted me to return,” said Milavec, who was an associate with Buchanan in the late 1980s.
Milavec left Buchanan to serve as in-house counsel for Albert Einstein Healthcare Network in 1991. Since then, he has served as general counsel for two other Pennsylvania teaching hospitals and co-founded two health care-related companies before starting a Center City law firm in 2005.
“Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is known for its extensive health care law expertise and its accomplished and recognized health care lawyers, particularly in the Mid-Atlantic region and in Florida,” Washlick said. “The firm’s commitment to continue its focus on building its health care practice in Philadelphia is clear.”
Washlick, who focuses on health care transactions and corporate compliance, recently completed two joint ventures and a $20 million home care deal that spanned several states.
