Experienced Tax Controversy Attorney Joins Locke Lord’s Tax Practice Group

Peter Poulos, an attorney with nearly 19 years of experience representing public companies, closely held entities and other clients in federal and state tax controversy matters, has joined Locke Lord’s Chicago office as a Partner in the Firm’s Tax Practice group. Poulos’ focus on federal, state and local tax controversy matters broadens Locke Lord’s strength and capabilities in its well-regarded Tax Practice.

Poulos represents clients in connection with complex substantive and procedural tax issues in audits, administrative appeals and hearings, and litigation. His national experience is wide-ranging and includes tax-free reorganizations, partnership, financial products, foreign tax credit, transfer pricing, intangible assets, conduit issues, debt-equity, capitalization, inventories, accounting methods and tax-advantaged transactions, as well as discovery, privilege and other procedural issues. He comes to Locke Lord from Winston & Strawn.

Poulos earned his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley where he was a member of and published in the California Law Review. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a tax consultant for a major accounting firm. Poulos serves on the Board of the Golden Apple Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing education.
