Baker Hostetler announced that Martin T. Booher joined the firm’s Energy and Environmental practice as Partner in its Cleveland, Ohio office. Booher’s practice focuses on environmental matters within the renewable and clean energy, oil and gas, utilities, power and pipeline industry sectors. He comes to Baker Hostetler from Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP.
Booher brings significant experience representing and advising energy and manufacturing clients on a broad spectrum of complex compliance, transactional, remediation and project development matters throughout the United States and Latin America. His dedicated areas of experience includes matters related to the Clean Air Act, climate change, renewable fuels and the licensing of energy facilities (traditional and renewable), including fossil and biomass-fired power plants, solar facilities, wind farms, natural gas pipelines, electric transmission lines and liquefied natural gas terminals. He is a trusted advisor to the oil and gas industry on the environmental issues associated with shale gas development (and related infrastructure). Booher also regularly provides advice to clients on environmental and climate change risks in transactions involving energy facilities, including assisting in the development of appropriate “regulatory assumptions” for use in market forecasting and economic modeling.
Booher previously worked for the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection and in the corporate environmental, health and safety department of a global pharmaceutical company. He received his J.D. from Pace University School of Law, along with a certificate in Environmental Law. He is Vice Chair for the American Bar Association Committee on Air Quality and is a published author and frequent public speaker on environmental matters, both domestically and internationally.
“As a leading national firm with an expanding environmental and energy practice, Baker Hostetler will benefit greatly from Marty’s in-depth knowledge of the industry, which further supports our efforts to meet the increasingly complex needs of our clients,” said W. Ray Whitman, chair of Baker Hostetler’s Litigation group.
“We’re pleased to have Marty join the firm,” said Hewitt B. Shaw, Managing Partner of Baker Hostetler’s Cleveland office. “His knowledge and experience enhances our robust services in Cleveland and our environmental work throughout the country.”
