Manatt Expands Insurance Regulatory Practice in Albany

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, announced that Jay B. Martin has joined the firm’s Albany office as a partner in the Insurance Regulatory practice. Martin comes to Manatt from Dewey & LeBoeuf.

Martin has over 30 years of experience representing insurance companies, producers, buyers and trade associations with respect to a broad range of issues of importance to the insurance community. His insurance regulatory practice runs the gamut from strategic advice, product design and approval, regulatory compliance, market conduct and financial examination advice to reinsurance transactions, as well as most other areas related to participation in the insurance business.

In addition to working closely with the New York State Department of Financial Services and other regulatory bodies, Martin also appears regularly before the governor’s office, other executive agencies and the state Legislature, on behalf of his insurance industry clients.

A past president of the National Conference of Insurance Legislators Industry Education Council, Martin earned a B.A. from the State University of New York and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law.
