Shearman & Sterling has announced that Nicolas Bombrun will be joining the firm shortly as a partner in the firm’s Paris office. The addition of Bombrun will further strengthen the firm’s mergers and acquisitions capabilities and its private equity practice.
Bombrun joins Shearman & Sterling from Latham & Watkins in Paris where he has been a partner since 2001. He is a leading corporate lawyer in France, with more than 20 years’ experience advising corporate and other clients on a broad range of merger and acquisition transactions, as well as strategic alliances and joint ventures, both in France and internationally. In addition to strategic corporate transactions, Bombrun advises French and foreign investment funds in private equity transactions and regularly advises clients on corporate governance matters. He is a leader in the Paris corporate market and has been recognized as such in Chambers Global, Legal 500 and other professional directories.
Emmanuel Gaillard, managing partner of the Paris office and head of the firm’s global International Arbitration practice, said, “I am delighted to welcome Nicolas to our firm. His broad experience and recognized excellence as a corporate lawyer, the international scope of his practice, and his strong relationships with both corporate and private equity clients will make him a valuable addition to our Paris office. His arrival is another step forward in further strengthening our corporate practice in Paris. Nicolas will broaden the scope of our Paris M&A practice which we have been actively expanding in the past year—with the election of Guillaume Isautier to the partnership and the return of John Madden to the Paris office.”
Cyrille Niedzielski and Guillaume Isautier, partners on the Paris M&A team, share this view: “We are absolutely delighted to have Nicolas join our team. Nicolas is a respected professional and his M&A practice which covers classic M&A, listed company transactions and private equity fits perfectly within the strategy of our group in Paris.”
Creighton Condon, senior partner of Shearman & Sterling and former co-head of the firm’s global M&A practice, commented, “I am very pleased to have Nicolas join the team. He is a dynamic, innovative and hard-working lawyer with great technical expertise. His high degree of professionalism and dedication to his clients make him a great fit for our strong M&A group.”
Bombrun added: “I am delighted to be joining one of the most prestigious international law firms. Established in Paris for almost 50 years, the firm counts highly respected and well-known practices in various fields: M&A, of course, but also corporate finance, tax, capital markets and international arbitration. Shearman & Sterling has a true French and international M&A practice group, as well as excellent teams, able to deal with the most complex cases of financing, tax and restructuring. Feedback from my industrial clients, as well as from French and international investment funds, has been very positive about the move and I am sincerely touched by their trust in me. Lastly, and quite importantly, it was the team spirit of the firm and the cooperation between its various offices that really prompted my move to Shearman & Sterling.”
