Goldberg Segalla Strengthens London Office With Appointment of Two New Partners

Goldberg Segalla has appointed two new partners to its recently opened London office, strengthening its offering to insurance and reinsurance clients in Europe and across the globe.

Eleni Iacovides and Tanguy Le Gouëllec de Schwarz join Clive O’Connell, who heads the office at No. 1 Cornhill in the heart of the City.

Goldberg Segalla, which has offices in four US states, has grown significantly in the past year. In February, the firm appointed James Wrynn, the former Superintendent of Insurance in the State of New York, to head its Manhattan office and serve as a senior partner in the firm’s Global Insurance Services Practice Group.

Ms. Iacovides was Managing Partner of Riker Danzig London, the London affiliate of Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland and Perretti, since its inception in 2006. Called to the bar in her native Cyprus and admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales, she concentrates on offering insurance and reinsurance advice to the London and continental European insurance markets, with an emphasis on run-off portfolios. Ms. Iacovides said: “I am excited to be joining this growing team of exceptional professionals. Goldberg Segalla brings a unique and fresh client service-focussed approach to our industry, an approach that every client needs and looks for in today’s business reality.”

Mr. de Schwarz, who was previously London Legal Director at Clyde and Co., is qualified in French and English law and focuses on the resolution of insurance and reinsurance disputes as well as domestic and international arbitrations. He has considerable experience in asbestos-related issues and has advised on coverage issues regarding directors and officers, property, and product liability policies. Mr. de Schwarz said: “Joining Goldberg Segalla provided me the opportunity to contribute to a growing team committed to being one of the world’s premier insurance and reinsurance law firms. I look forward to working with these talented lawyers and serving the needs of our clients.”

Daniel W. Gerber, co-chair of Goldberg Segalla’s Global Insurance Services Practice Group, said: “We are thrilled to have Eleni and Tanguy join our London office. Their collective and deep experience in the London and continental European markets enhances our ability to counsel and act for clients in the US and EU.”
