Fulbright Strengthens Disputes Team in London Office

Fulbright’s London office is expanding its disputes practice and international arbitration capabilities.

Deborah Ruff comes to Fulbright as a partner from Dewey & LeBoeuf, where she was co-chair of international litigation and co-chair of the firm’s arbitration group.

She has significant experience in multi-jurisdiction disputes, specializing in high-value and complex international arbitration, particularly involving clients in the energy, infrastructure and construction, telecommunications, banking and corporate sectors. Her practice also encompasses commercial litigation.

“We are very pleased to welcome Deborah to Fulbright, as her skill set will greatly benefit our disputes practice in London and globally,” said Lista Cannon, managing partner of Fulbright’s London office.

Ms Ruff has extensive experience of international disputes and has conducted hearings in numerous locations including London, Moscow, Paris, New York, Geneva and Dubai. The Chambers Global Guide and the Legal 500 UK Guide both named Ms Ruff a leading lawyer in international arbitration. She earned her M.A. from Trinity College, Cambridge.

“Fulbright is recognised as a global leader in international arbitration, and I am delighted to be joining their team,” Ms Ruff said. “My international disputes experience and sector focus fits well with the firm’s client base.”

“Our international clients will benefit greatly from Deborah’s arrival,” said Steven B. Pfeiffer, the chair of Fulbright’s executive committee. “She will bolster an international arbitration group that already stands as a global leader.”

For the seventh consecutive year, the Chambers Global Guide recognized Fulbright on the global level for its work in international arbitration in 2012. The Legal 500 U.S. Guide and Legal 500 UK Guide recognized Fulbright for its work in international arbitration this past year. In 2011, Fulbright was selected as the best US firm for international arbitration by a jury of prominent worldwide general counsel in the Legal Summit Awards.

“London is a key seat for international arbitration, and we place strong and continued emphasis on having accomplished arbitration lawyers in this location,” said C. Mark Baker, co-chair of Fulbright’s international arbitration practice group. “I look forward to working with Deborah on complex cross-border disputes.”
