Peter Willis Joins Bird & Bird

We are delighted to announce that Peter Willis is joining our London office as a Partner in our International EU & Competition Practice Group.

EU & competition has been a core practice area for some time as our clients increasingly seek to develop their businesses internationally. The team comprises some 40 lawyers around Europe, who work closely with our international sector groups, particularly within IT, communications, media and energy. The calibre of our London competition group is also well recognised.
Peter joins us from Dundas & Wilson, where he headed their EU & Competition practice. Peter has particularly strong competition and regulatory experience in the energy sector, and competition experience in the pharmaceuticals and technology industries. Peter will make a key contribution to the team as we work on an increasing number of matters in our key sectors.
Jose Rivas, head of our International EU & Competition Practice Group comments: “Peter is a key addition to our team as we continue to develop our competition capability internationally. Peter’s expertise is a great fit, particularly his experience in private enforcement which is becomingly increasingly important in several of our key industries.”
Richard Eccles, Partner, comments: “Peter’s competition and regulatory expertise, especially in the energy sector, complements our London competition group’s strong communications and media regulatory and competition law focus and supports our energy sector group very well.  I look forward to him joining our busy competition team.”
Peter Willis adds: “I have enjoyed my time at Dundas & Wilson and wish the firm well for the future. It’s time to move on to a new challenge as my practice, particularly in the energy sector and in competition litigation, has changed considerably over the last few years. With an increasing focus on the interaction between EU and national competition and regulatory authorities, procedures and courts, I have become increasingly aware of the value of combining sector knowledge with local expertise across Europe. There was really only one firm that fitted the bill, and I’m delighted to be joining Richard Eccles in London and the other members of the outstanding EU & Competition team.”
