Polsinelli Shughart welcomes prominent health care attorney Linas J. Grikis to the firm as shareholder to assist health care providers facing changes in the health care industry. For more than 13 years, Grikis has provided counsel to hospitals, health systems and other health care providers. He is the fourth attorney added to the Chicago office to serve health care clients since January 1, 2012, and joins one of the fastest growing law firms in the country.

Grikis represents hospitals and other health care entities in regulatory and transactional matters, especially in connection with mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other transactional matters. He has negotiated complex, multi-party contracts on behalf of clients, including various types of pharmaceutical service agreements. He also advises clients on regulatory compliance with licensure, accreditation, other state and federal regulatory matters, corporate governance and compliance issues.

The firm’s Health Care Practice includes more than 85 attorneys in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Los Angeles, St. Louis and Washington, D.C. Polsinelli Shughart ranks as the sixth largest health care law firm in the nation, according to the 2011 rankings from Modern Healthcare magazine. 

Grikis earned an LL.M. from Loyola University School of Law, and his law degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law. He earned his bachelor or arts from the University of Kansas in 1991. When he is not serving clients, Grikis is involved in the Chicago Bar Association; the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys; and the American Health Lawyers Association. 

The University of Tulsa College of Law honored Grikis as a Distinguished Practitioner in Residence in 2006. He has served as an adjunct professor of law at Loyola University-Chicago where he taught the health law section of the school’s legal writing program.
