McGuireWoods LLP announced today that David Martin Connelly has joined its Energy & Environmental Department as a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.
Connelly previously served as senior counsel at Dominion Resources Services Inc. in Washington, where he represented the company’s electric transmission business before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and various United States Courts of Appeals. He brings to the firm more than a decade of experience representing electric utilities and their affiliates and electric cooperatives in obtaining FERC approval for multiple aspects of electric transmission projects. He will focus his practice on representing electric utilities in FERC transmission and interconnection matters, as well as compliance matters involving FERC. His experience also enhances the firm’s capabilities regarding electric reliability regulatory work under the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standards.
“We are thrilled that David has decided to join McGuireWoods,” said Joanne Katsantonis, co-chair of the Energy & Environmental Department. “The knowledge and experience he brings to the firm, having worked inside one of the nation’s largest energy utility companies, are invaluable to the team.”
Prior to joining Dominion, Connelly was an attorney at Bruder, Gentile & Marcoux, L.L.P. He earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1998, where he graduated magna cum laude.
