Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck welcomes top Republican strategist Marc S. Lampkin to its government relations team. From serving various Republican members of Congress to maintaining a key role in George W. Bush’s 2000 campaign, Lampkin has long been a fixture in national politics and policy. The Hill has touted him as one of the top 50 lobbyists.

Lampkin will join the firm’s Washington D.C. office, ranked fifth for lobbying revenue in 2011, as a shareholder in the government relations department. He’ll focus in areas including pension and labor reform issues, education, telecommunications, financial services and tax policy matters.

Most recently, Lampkin served as a lead Republican lobbyist, senior strategic advisor and management committee director at Quinn Gillespie & Associates (QGA) where his achievements included shaping the passage and implementation of the historic Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. On the Hill, Lampkin is well-respected for his role as a member of House Speaker John A. Boehner’s (R-OH) ‘Team Boehner’, a team of high-level strategic advisers that work closely with Speaker Boehner and other Republican members. His relationship with Speaker Boehner goes back to 1995 when he served as General Counsel for the House Republican Conference under then-Chairman Boehner for three years.
Among Lampkin’s other notable political positions was serving as Deputy Campaign Manager for the 2000 Bush for President campaign, senior Bush-Cheney political operative at the 2000 Republican Convention, and leader of the momentous recount efforts in various Florida locations. Lampkin also held a variety of senior positions prior to 2000 with Republican members of Congress, including General Counsel to then-House Republican Conference Chairman John Boehner, Policy Director to the late Senator Paul Coverdell, and majority professional staff member to the House Education and Labor Committee. He has also led several high-profile public advocacy campaigns such as the Strong American Schools (SAS) issue advocacy campaign (2006-2009), a joint project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates and the Eli and Edythe Broad Foundations.
Lampkin received his law degree from Boston College Law School and his bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross.
