Joel R. Nied has joined the law firm of LeClairRyan as a partner on the firm’s Venture Capital and Corporate Services Practice Area Teams. He will be resident in the firm’s Norfolk and Alexandria, Va. offices.
Nied focuses his practice on corporate and securities, mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings and intellectual property. His corporate commercial law practice includes representing clients in matters relating to corporate contracts, securities regulation, Blue Sky law, and private placements. Nied has extensive experience handling transactions involving debt and equity financings, joint ventures, fund formation, licensing agreements, engineering services contracts, development and supply agreements. Additionally, he represents clients in the long term care industry, providing advice on the acquisition and sale of individual and portfolios of skilled nursing and assisted living facilities throughout the country. Nied also represents both lenders and borrowers in all aspects of HUD-insured loans, including acquisition and construction loans, refinancings and the TPA process.
A graduate of Emory University School of Law, with distinction (J.D.) and the University of Pennsylvania (B.A.), Nied is admitted to practice in Virginia, Georgia and Pennsylvania. He is a founder of the Entrepreneurs Forum of Hampton Roads, a past board member of the Hampton Roads Technology Council, a Start Norfolk mentor and a trustee of the Hebrew Academy of Tidewater. He has been recognized by Inside Business magazine as one of the region’s “Top 40 Under 40.”
