Shawn Lanier has joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP as a partner in its Atlanta office. Mr. Lanier focuses his practice on real estate development, including all aspects of property and air rights acquisition, development, operation, financing, and disposition.
Mr. Lanier represents local, regional, national, and international real estate clients in their acquisition, development, and financing of resorts, mixed-use projects, multifamily residential developments, and traditional retail shopping center projects. He is experienced in the complex area of air rights, common interest associations, and the development and implementation of use rights, controls, and cost sharing arrangements for large real estate projects. Mr. Lanier also represents clients in the acquisition, development, financing and disposition of multifamily residential projects in the Southeastern United States.
A substantial component of Mr. Lanier’s legal work has focused on large urban mixed-use projects. He is well-known in Atlanta and the Southeast for his extensive work on the Atlantic StationĀ® Project, a major 138-acre mixed use development in midtown Atlanta.
Mr. Lanier also has experience in representing clients in the disposition of distressed real estate assets and the restructuring of debt associated with these assets. These representations have included the negotiation and closing of large deed-in-lieu transactions and negotiation of master foreclosure settlement agreements.
Mr. Lanier earned his Juris Doctor from the Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Mercer University.
