David L. Balser, one of the leading trial lawyers in the southeast United States, and Lawrence A. Slovensky, a prominent litigator, have joined the business litigation practice of King & Spalding as partners in the Atlanta, Ga., office, the firm announced today. Their arrival continues the strategic global expansion of the firm’s litigation practice, bringing the total number of lateral litigation partners who have joined the firm in the past 24 months to 21. The two lawyers join King & Spalding from McKenna Long & Aldridge, where they were partners.
“David and Larry are outstanding lawyers, and we are excited that they have joined our team,” said Jeffrey S. Cashdan, leader of King & Spalding’s Atlanta business litigation practice. “As we continue to expand our practice, their skill and experience, particularly in consumer class action and complex business matters, will help us maintain our premier reputation for handling high-stakes, high-value matters for clients.”
Balser represents Fortune 500 companies, privately held businesses, corporate officers and directors, and law firms in trials, arbitrations and appeals in complex business litigation matters throughout the United States. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants, and many of the cases he handles involve matters of significant strategic importance to his clients. A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Balser has been identified as one of “America’s Leading Lawyers” for litigation by Chambers USA and was named by Georgia Trend magazine as one of “Georgia’s Most Effective Lawyers” for business litigation. He received a J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan and a B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.
Slovensky focuses on class action defense, law firm defense and general commercial litigation. Earlier in his career, he spent five years with EarthLink, Inc., where he managed all of the company’s litigation. He received a J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Chicago Law School and B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina.
“Larry and I are thrilled to be members of King & Spalding’s talented litigation team,” said Balser. “The firm’s platform, including its deep expertise in both litigation and transactional work, provides us with a unique opportunity to expand our practices with clients seeking sophisticated legal services nationally and internationally.”
