Nationally Recognized IP Attorney Joins Dinsmore

Karen Gaunt, a standout in the legal community and formerly with Wood, Herron & Roberts, L.L.P., has joined Dinsmore’s Cincinnati office as a partner and as the Director of the firm’s Trademark, Copyright and Brand Strategies Group. She joins the firm’s expanding worldwide intellectual property (IP) practice, which includes more than 40 full-time IP attorneys (and more than 30 registered patent attorneys) with substantial experience in all areas of intellectual property law.

Over the past two years, Dinsmore has expanded the firm’s IP practice to better serve specific client needs by hiring 15 attorneys, 10 of which practice in the Cincinnati office. Jim Gottman, Dinsmore’s IP Department Chair, explains how this move further positions Dinsmore’s IP Group as a leader in the industry.
“We are excited that Karen, a highly skilled, nationally recognized attorney, is joining our firm. Her broad experience representing several national clients and her extensive branding background will be extremely beneficial to our clients.” said Gottman. “Karen’s extensive experience adds additional depth to our trademark practice, which is something that we have been actively seeking, and will allow us to further meet the needs of a number of our clients.”
George Vincent, Dinsmore’s Managing Partner, said, “Karen’s skills, experience and entrepreneurial approach make her the perfect fit to help lead the trademark and copyright side of the IP group as we further expand our national footprint in IP. With the addition of Karen to our already skilled group, we believe Dinsmore’s IP group offers a national IP practice to our clients in all aspects of both transactional and litigation IP matters.”
Gaunt counsels clients on both transactional and litigation matters involving all aspects of domestic and international trademark matters, copyright, advertising, Internet, licensing, and trade secret law. Gaunt has represented such national brand owners as The Procter & Gamble Company, an industry leader in home audio systems, a large regional bank and other well-known brand owners in the luxury eye wear, music, health care and toy industries. Additionally, she has represented prominent professional athletes and other celebrities in trademark and branding disputes.
