SNR Denton’s banking practice continues its global expansion with the addition of Edward Hickman as a partner in its Banking and Finance team. Edward joins today from Linklaters where he spent the last six years as a partner in their structured finance team advising major banks and corporates.
Edward is a leading structured finance partner, with expertise in loan portfolio sales, securitisation, regulatory capital, commercial real estate financing, project bonds, debt capital markets and derivatives transactions. He has extensive experience of advising banks and corporates on structured funding solutions and deleveraging and has also acted for private equity and distressed debt purchasers on such sales. As an expert on regulatory capital reforms, he has regularly presented seminars on this topic.
Commenting on his arrival, Edward said: “Several factors drew me to SNR Denton. The firm’s strength in a number of fields in which deleveraging, structured finance and capital market solutions will become increasingly important, including asset finance, infrastructure, utilities, commodities and commercial real estate finance. Other factors included its top tier US structured finance practice, given that structured finance transactions increasingly involve both US and English legal and regulatory issues, as well as its strong global platform, particularly in the growing CIS, GCC and African economies.”
Brandon Ransley, UK Managing Partner at SNR Denton, said: “Our banking and financial institutions practice is one of the areas ear-marked for growth in our strategy review alongside dispute resolution, TMT, energy, infrastruture and project finance. Edward’s appointment is further evidence of our intention to move swiftly and decisively to implement the findings of that review and our ability to attract partners of the highest calibre.”
Paul Holland, Head of Banking and Finance in London at SNR Denton, said “We are proud to welcome Edward to our team; our second banking and finance partner hire within a month. Our long-standing commitment to banking and the wider financial services sector places us in a prime position to attract top flight expertise, helping the firm meet increasing client demand while giving laterals the opportunity to work in a collegiate and entrepreneurial environment.”
Edward is the fifth partner appointment to the firm’s London office recently and follows shortly after Jim Baird was announced as a financial services and funds partner last month from Dechert and Will Gunston’s arrival as a restructuring partner in October. Since SNR Denton was formed, over 80 partners and senior counsel have joined, strengthening the firm’s global platform.
