Becky Bruner, a nationally-known attorney in the field of electric utility regulation, has joined Davis Wright Tremaine LLP as a partner in our Washington, D.C., office.
With more than 20 years of experience in federal and state energy regulation, Bruner represents a broad range of energy clients, including traditional and non-traditional transmission-owning utilities and merchant generators. She has served as lead counsel to utilities in rate cases involving single-system and region-wide cost-of-service and rate design issues. She began her career as a hearings examiner and trial staff attorney for the Public Utility Commission of Texas, and later served as a trial staff attorney and legal advisor for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Bruner is listed and recognized by the respected attorney-ranking organizations Chambers USA and Best Lawyers. She has advised and represented clients on matters pertaining to Regional Transmission Organization (“RTO”) tariffs and agreements, energy markets and financial transmission rights, purchase power agreements, transmission interconnections, and network upgrades and cost allocation. She was most recently practicing at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP.
“We are very pleased to have Becky join us,” said Craig Gannett, co-chair of DWT’s energy practice group. “Her deep understanding of the electric utility industry, along with a client base consisting entirely of industry leaders, will further strengthen our national energy practice.”
“One of our strengths here in the Washington, D.C., office is the representation of heavily-regulated industries, including energy and telecommunications,” said Steve Horvitz, partner-in-charge of DWT’s Washington, D.C., office. “Becky’s vast experience before both federal and state regulators will be another tremendous resource for our clients.”
Bruner received her B.A., M.A., and J.D. from the University of Texas. She is admitted to the bar in Texas and D.C.
