Victoria Holstein-Childress, an experienced and well-known financial services litigator, has joined Davis Wright Tremaine LLP as a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
Holstein-Childress joins DWT from BuckleySandler LLP, which she helped to launch in 2009, together with other litigators from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. At both these firms, Holstein-Childress accumulated extensive experience representing leading financial services companies before state and federal enforcement agencies and trial and appellate courts across the country.
“Victoria is a seasoned performer with exceptional skills and a deep knowledge of the regulatory environment, as well as the special challenges of concurrent civil litigation,” said Douglas Ross, chair of DWT’s Litigation group. “At a time when financial services firms find the litigation environment more challenging than ever, Victoria’s strategic thinking, energy, and execution will bring tremendous value to DWT clients.”
Ross noted, as examples of Holstein-Childress’s recent representations, her work advising major mortgage lenders and servicers in subprime-related matters, including class action, enforcement, and regulatory proceedings; her pursuit of a multi-million dollar indemnification claim on behalf of a major bank; and her counseling of the bankruptcy trustee in a major financial institution’s liquidation.
“I look forward to working closely with DWT’s skilled litigators, and in particular the firm’s financial services and payments lawyers, such as James Mann and Andy Lorentz, who have developed an extraordinary reputation for client service,” said Holstein-Childress. “In addition, DWT’s diversity of expertise and its full-service platform will help me provide assistance to non-financial services clients.”
Prior to beginning private practice, Holstein-Childress clerked for the Hon. Carl E. Stewart, Circuit Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She received her J.D. with Honors from Tulane Law School, where she served as Articles Editor of the Tulane Law Review, and her A.B. from Brown University.
