Ken Vermeulen, a longtime West Michigan real estate and environmental attorney, has joined Barnes & Thornburg LLP’s Michigan office as a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Environmental Law Departments.

Vermeulen has a broad-based real estate and environmental practice with a significant background in commercial leasing, zoning, state and federal cleanups, brownfield development and acquisition and divestiture due diligence. 

“Ken’s wealth of experience in both the real estate and environmental arenas adds additional bench strength, both in Michigan and for our national industry teams,” said Tracy T. Larsen, managing partner of Barnes & Thornburg’s Michigan office. “Ken’s addition is another step in bringing together some of the best legal talent in West Michigan under a single roof.” 

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Vermeulen was a partner at Warner Norcross & Judd LLP in Grand Rapids where he practiced environmental and real estate law.
