Stephen Murphy Joins Edwards Wildman’s Washington, DC Office as a Partner

The law firm of Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP is pleased to announce that Stephen P. Murphy has joined the Litigation Department as a partner. An experienced litigator with a focus on a comprehensive antitrust practice, Murphy will be based in Edwards Wildman’s growing office in Washington, DC.

Formerly a partner at ReedSmith LLP, Murphy brings impressive experience in the defense and prosecution of civil antitrust cases, counseling in criminal antitrust investigations, analysis of M&A activity, and advice on pricing and distribution issues. His clients span a range of industries, including consumer product manufacturers, building supply manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, international shipping companies, and US financial institutions, among others. He has also counseled clients in significant engagements before the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
“With his background and capabilities, Steve is the perfect choice with whom to position and build out an essential antitrust practice in our growing office in the District of Columbia,” said Greg Young, the partner in charge of Edwards Wildman’s office in Washington, DC. “He brings a dynamic new capability to our office. Our clients in both Washington and firm-wide will benefit immediately.”
Murphy’s arrival comes shortly after the October 1 merger of the former Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge with Wildman Harrold, a highly regarded litigation firm based in Chicago. In September, IP partner Mitch Stabbe joined the firm as a partner in Washington. And in February, a group of telecommunications lawyers from Fleischman and Harding joined Edwards Wildman’s Washington office. According to Young, the office is poised for additional growth.
Murphy is licensed to practice in the District of Columbia, as well as numerous federal courts. He earned his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his law degree from the Catholic University School of Law.
