As part of its continuing efforts to serve clients in the Middle East, Holland & Knight will expand its Abu Dhabi office, which opened four years ago. U.S. partners Andrew Stephenson, Michael Cavanaugh, and George Howell will supplement the office’s existing professionals. In addition, Joseph McDonough will join the Abu Dhabi office as a partner. Mr. McDonough has extensive experience in the Gulf region. Mr. Stephenson, who practices in the construction and international arbitration areas, will serve as the executive partner for the office.

“The addition of these partners, along with several new associates, will bolster our capabilities in the region. We will continue to expand Holland and Knight’s client services in energy, construction, transportation, finance, and international arbitration,” said Steven Sonberg, Holland & Knight’s managing partner. “These assignments will enhance our capabilities for our U.A.E. clients and for our international clients with interests in the region.” 

Under Stephenson’s leadership, the firm will continue the expansion of its regional presence, including serving clients with business interests throughout the Middle East and Afghanistan. According to Stephenson, “All of these efforts are intended to strengthen further the relationships the firm has with its long-standing clients in the U.A.E., while enhancing our services in various industry sectors.”
