Locke Lord today announced the addition of two new Corporate Insurance attorneys to its national Corporate Insurance Practice Group, a practice that counts more than 50 lawyers who devote a substantial portion of their transactional, corporate, securities, investment management, tax and regulatory practices to representing the insurance industry.
Paige D. Waters has joined Locke Lord’s Chicago Office as a Partner, and Stephanie M. O’Neill Macro joins as Of Counsel. Both were formerly with SNR Denton in Chicago.
The duo’s experience in insurance regulatory and transactional matters will help strengthen and diversify Locke Lord’s already nationally recognized Corporate Insurance Practice Group and will add bench strength and broader capabilities for the benefit of clients. Waters has significant experience handling insurance transactional, regulatory and insolvency matters on behalf of national and international insurance and reinsurance clients. O’Neill Macro advises insurance clients on a wide range of insurance compliance issues, including responding to insurance department investigations and market conduct exams.
In particular, Waters and O’Neill Macro bring substantial insurance regulatory experience to Locke Lord. Earlier in her career, Waters served as senior counsel of the Office of the Special Deputy Receiver, representing the Illinois Director of Insurance. She has more than two decades of experience working with insurance regulators nationwide and has a nationally recognized NAIC practice.
“Paige and Stephanie represent the experience, dependability and excellent reputations we are looking for to keep our core Corporate Insurance Practice Group at the highest level for years to come,” said Chicago Managing Partner Jennifer Kenedy. Their addition, she said, enhances the capabilities of the insurance team locally, nationally and internationally.
“The synergies of Paige’s insurance regulatory practice with our own corporate insurance practice offer an ideal fit,” said Chicago’s Jon Biasetti, Co-Chair of Locke Lord’s Corporate Insurance Practice Group. “We are confident that Paige and Stephanie will further enhance our insurance service capabilities for the benefit of our clients around the country.”
Waters earned her law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law and her undergraduate degree from Miami University of Ohio. She also was a partner at Piper Marbury Rudnick & Wolfe prior to joining Sonnenschein, now SNR Denton.
O’Neill Macro earned her law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and her undergraduate degree from Boston University. Prior to entering private practice, she was director of Health Care Policy and Member Services at the Illinois Association of HMOs.
