Patton Boggs LLP has added five new partners and one senior counsel to the firm’s offices across the U.S., reinforcing its Business, Public Policy, Litigation and Intellectual Property practices. The additions include Partner Clark Kent Ervin in Washington; Partner Darren W. Collins in Dallas; Partners Mark C. Errico and Mark D. Sheridan in Newark; Partner Wendy Li and Senior Counsel Robert Rosenberg in New York.

Darren W. Collins, Dallas. Darren Collins advises various clients on the development, protection, enforcement and commercialization of intellectual property. With an understanding of how intellectual property issues affect corporate transactions and finance efforts, Mr. Collins translates complex IP issues and concerns, enabling deal makers to quickly assess and respond to them when they arise. He serves as outside general patent counsel to clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to smaller, fast-paced technology start-up companies and caters his counsel to each entity specifically when advising them on the development of patent portfolios, the navigation of litigation controversies involving intellectual property and the transaction of sophisticated licensing, supply and other commercial arrangements. Mr. Collins rejoins Patton Boggs from a large international law firm in Dallas.
Mark C. Errico, Newark. Mark Errico has more than a decade of experience advising insurers in connection with a variety of complex coverage claims and litigation matters across the country, including coverage disputes relating to commercial and excess general liability, intellectual property and business torts, products liability and directors and officers liability. Joining Patton Boggs from an Am Law 100 U.S. law firm, Mr. Errico’s practice also includes representing clients in the areas of commercial litigation and professional liability.
Clark Kent Ervin, Washington. Clark Kent Ervin is a member of the firm’s Government Investigations and Litigation; Homeland Security, Defense and Technology Transfer; and International practices in Washington. His notable expertise in the area of government and internal corporate investigations stems from his time spent as the inspector general of the Departments of State, Homeland Security and the Broadcasting Board of Governors, and enables him to craft, coordinate and implement effective defense strategies on behalf of the firm’s clients. Mr. Ervin joins the firm from the Aspen Institute, where he will remain director of the Homeland Security Program and continue his role as a member of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano’s Homeland Security Advisory Council. His exposure to international affairs, security and intelligence issues enables him to offer clients specialized counsel and provide strategic direction.
Wendy Li, New York. Wendy Li, a distinguished financial services and corporate attorney, represents some of the world’s most prominent financial institutions and multinational businesses in both domestic and international financial transactions and regulatory matters. Ms. Li counsels international financial institutions, multinational businesses, major swap participants, funds, energy and infrastructure firms that are active in capital markets, debt and project financings, derivatives trading and hedge and private equity funds. International banks opening branches, agencies, representative offices and brokerage subsidiaries in the U.S. regularly seek her counsel. She has helped to bring major Chinese corporations and financial institutions to the U.S., and her transactional finance and regulatory expertise enables her to assist Patton Boggs with challenging client initiatives, including those involving the firm’s BRICs clients. Ms. Li comes to Patton Boggs from an international law firm in New York.
Robert Rosenberg, New York. Robert Rosenberg has been involved with the acquisition, development, financing and sale of commercial real estate for more than 30 years. Prior to joining Patton Boggs, Mr. Rosenberg spent several years as a principal of the highly regarded real estate investment fund Lubert-Adler Partners, where he played a key role in the acquisition, repositioning and disposition of many large-scale real estate portfolios and real estate-related operating companies. Earlier in his career, Mr. Rosenberg was a partner at one of New York’s most prominent law firms, acting on behalf of a wide range of institutional investors in transactions involving assets as diverse as Rockefeller Center in New York and Hawaii’s Ritz-Carlton Mauna Lani Bay Hotel. He has also had considerable experience with regard to the restructuring of distressed real estate projects and has represented numerous U.S. investors seeking to acquire real property in non-U.S. jurisdictions.
Mark D. Sheridan, Newark. Mark Sheridan specializes in commercial litigation with a focus on insurance coverage and public policy matters. He advocates on behalf of a broad base of clients across the U.S., including members of the insurance, manufacturing, real estate and professional services industries. Within the insurance coverage context, Mr. Sheridan represents insurers in connection with complex disputes. His government affairs practice includes the representation of businesses in their dealings with state and federal regulators, as well as in related litigation, and extends to the world of politics. Currently serving as general counsel for the New Jersey Republican State Committee, he also advises clients in matters involving the interplay of business and government at all levels. Before arriving at Patton Boggs, Mr. Sheridan was a partner at an Am Law 100 U.S. law firm.
