O’Melveny Adds Heather Traeger as Partner in DC

O’Melveny & Myers LLP announced today that Heather Traeger will be joining the Firm as a partner in the Firm’s Financial Services Practice.  Traeger will be based in O’Melveny’s Washington, DC office.  Traeger, formerly a counsel at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Associate Counsel at the Investment Company Institute, is well-known and highly regarded in the investment adviser and SEC communities.  She will provide clients with advice as to registration and compliance of their management activities, including under the Advisers Act and the Investment Company Act, and regarding the distribution of fund interests to investors, including regulation under the broker-dealer provisions of the Exchange Act.

“Heather possesses a rare combination of experience in both broker-dealer and investment adviser regulation and we are thrilled to bring someone of her caliber on board,” said Brian Boyle, Chair of O’Melveny’s Financial Service Practice.  “We are certain that our clients will find her unique knowledge and experience in both of these regulatory areas to be invaluable especially in light of the changes in financial services regulation in the US.”
“I am excited to join the O’Melveny team and I look forward to advising clients around the globe with regard to their most pressing compliance and regulatory questions and concerns,” said Traeger.
Prior to joining O’Melveny, Traeger served as an Associate Counsel at the Investment Company Institute, the national association of US registered investment companies.  She came to the Institute after more than eight years at the SEC, where she served as the Senior Counsel to Commissioner Roel Campos, as Counsel to Commissioner Isaac Hunt, and as a Senior Counsel in the Division of Market Regulation (now Trading and Markets).  Traeger began her legal career in 1997 with a clerkship, after receiving her J.D. from the University of Houston and her B.A. from Williams College.
