Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that Ana Francisco has joined the firm’s Insurance & Reinsurance Litigation Practice as a partner in its Boston office. Previously, Francisco was a partner with Ropes & Gray LLP.
Focusing on complex business disputes, Francisco represents insurers in high-stakes coverage litigation, particularly matters involving coverage for mass tort and environmental pollution claims. In addition to her significant trial and arbitration experience, she also advises on director and officers liability insurance issues. She also assists clients with data privacy incidents, handling all aspects of data security breach responses and investigations.
“With her extensive insurance litigation experience, Ana will be an important asset to our growing insurance industry capabilities,” said Gordon Davenport III, chair of the firm’s Insurance & Reinsurance Litigation Practice. “Ana’s trial and arbitration experience will also be a critical asset to our clients who must resolve complex matters both in and out of court, while navigating new regulatory requirements.”
Francisco has also arbitrated a variety of disputes involving hundreds of millions of dollars under the Wellington Agreement, the insurance industry’s largest multi-party settlement regarding the handling of asbestos claims.
“We are pleased to welcome Ana to our Boston team, who will further strengthen our insurance and reinsurance litigation practice on the East Coast, as well as nationally,” said Susan Pravda, managing partner of Foley’s Boston office.
Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly has recognized Francisco as one of its “Top Women of Law.” Prior to joining Foley, she also served as chair of Ropes & Gray’s pro bono committee, where she led that firm’s pro bono program.
