Raj R. Mahale Joins Kelley Drye as Partner in India Practice Group

Kelley Drye & Warren LLP is pleased to announce that Raj R. Mahale has joined the firm as a partner, in the India practice group.  He is resident in the Stamford, Connecticut office.

Mr. Mahale has extensive experience in emerging markets, particularly in South Asia and the Middle East.  He represents both U.S. and foreign entities on cross-border transactions including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, venture capital, private equity, fund formation and IT/outsourcing matters.  He has experience in preparing and negotiating various professional services agreements; software and technology license agreements; and software and technology development and distribution agreements.  Additionally, Mr. Mahale has advised several new and emerging companies in their initial development, structuring and financing.  His clients include Fortune 1000 companies, major healthcare systems, emerging growth technology companies, Tier 1 BPO/ITES companies, large institutional clients, funds and private equity firms.
“Kelley Drye’s India practice currently focuses on representing Indian companies in transactions and litigation in the United States.  With his M&A and private equity experience, Raj brings an ability to represent U.S.-based middle market companies, investment funds and entrepreneurs in investments and expansion in the India and Middle East markets.  The addition of Raj to our group greatly enhances both our inbound and outbound transactional capabilities,” said Talat Ansari, chair of Kelley Drye’s India practice group.

Highlights of Mr. Mahale’s representations include representing a $7 billion Dubai-based holding company in its acquisition of several U.S. information technology companies; representing a major Indian privately held company with operations in the United States and Canada in its acquisition of a privately held technology company through a reverse subsidiary merger; and forming several India feeder funds through Mauritius and Singapore for India related investments.
Mr. Mahale has been honored with the Jagatik Marathi Chamber of Commerce and Industries, State of Maharashtra, “Global Entrepreneur of the Year Award” (2006) and The Fairfield County Business Journal “40 Under 40 Award” (2006).
He is the chair of the City of Stamford Municipal Board of Appeals.  He is also a member of the American Bar Association, International Law Section, Connecticut Bar Association, Business Law Section. South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut and U.S-India Business Council.  Mr. Mahale is also the co-chair of the  National South Asian Bar Association, Business Law Section, and sits on the executive committee of the Indus Entrepreneurs, TIE-Tristate.
Mr. Mahale received his J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law in1997 and his B.A./B.B.A. from the University of Texas in 1993.  Mr. Mahale is fluent in Marathi and Hindi and speaks Spanish.
