Freshfields Advises Braathens Leasing and Malmo Aviation on Significant Jetliner Order

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised Braathens Leasing and Malmo Aviation, two companies part of Braathens Aviation, a long established and well known Nordic based transportation group with various interests in the aviation sector, on an order for five Bombardier CS100 and five CS300 mainline jetliners, plus options on an additional 10 CSeries aircraft to Braathens Leasing Limited.

Based on list prices for the CS100 and CS300 aircraft, the firm order contract is valued at approximately $665 million US. That could increase to approximately $1.37 billion US if the 10 options are converted to firm orders.
The CSeries aircraft will be operated by Braathens Aviation Group member Malmö Aviation from its base at the Stockholm-Bromma Airport, situated just a few kilometres from downtown Stockholm. Malmö Aviation currently operates 12 jet aircraft and intends to replace its current fleet and also explore new business opportunities with its CSeries aircraft.
The Freshfields team advising on the deal was led by finance partner and aviation industry expert Rob Murphy supported by finance associate Victoria Clarke.
Commenting on the transaction, Rob Murphy said: ‘This Bombardier CSeries order represents a significant development for the Malmo airlines business and a positive sign of investment in the industry’.
